Skivangelism SMP Blog

Hello all! We are a group of Wheaton College students involved in the Skivangelism club currently on our way from Chicago area to Summit County Colorado for a Student Missionary Partners trip. Skivangelism, is a newly founded club in the past few years, with roots stemming from another club called “Wheaton Chill” in the ‘90’s. The focus, very generally, is to bring Jesus and evangelism into even the casual aspects of your life, and the things you love to do. We are geared toward snow sports, but encourage this way of approaching faith and evangelism into any hobby, as well. During the year we take local trips to hills in the Chicago area, and also up into Wisconsin, and try to build relationship with the local skiers and employees, share Jesus and snacks with them, and later pray for those we met.

This year, we are taking a week long trip to Colorado to dive deeper into this type of ministry and evangelism with our partners Skiers and Snowboarders for Christ. We’ll be meeting again with the Dillon Office of SFC, and learn about what they do and their experiences sharing the gospel with a community that struggles with wealth stratification, addiction, and gender and racial disparity. We’ll also accompany SFC on the slopes, and join them in collecting stories and prayer requests from those we meet on the lift, in lift lines, in the lodge, at the terrain park, or passing our PBJ’s at the summit.

Currently, on this very long car ride, we’re excited to get to the mountains, and meet our hosts from SFC who are very kind to let us stay with them this week. We are praying for healthy bodies, fruitful conversations, and a heart posture ready to help.

Thank you for following us on this journey!

Signed,
